We’d like to offer a brief but important clarification regarding our previous and current references to the barrister Louise Mankau of Doughty Street Chambers.
In a number of posts and public documents, we have referred to Louise as a King’s Counsel (KC). This was incorrect. Louise Mankau is a specialist employment and discrimination barrister at Doughty Street, but she is not a KC.
This error was wholly unintentional, and we sincerely apologise for any confusion it may have caused. Despite having previously tagged both Louise and Doughty Street Chambers in good faith, no correction was received until a direct conversation today. We totally appreciate Louise’s professionalism and are grateful for her continued support of accessibility and equality in law.
To be clear, this correction in no way affects the substance or credibility of her published legal opinion, which has been formally noted and referenced by a number of respected charities and organisations, The Cabinet Office, the Department for Work and Pensions (June 2025), Ofsted and, is currently under review by government legal teams.
We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and respectful dialogue, especially when it comes to the rights of disabled people and the importance of accessible digital environments.
