FAQ’s
An Ocean 3D interactive tour is an interactive photorealistic representation of your space that can be accessed on almost any smartphone, tablet or desktop with a Wi-Fi or 4/5G connection. This allows end-users to virtually explore and plan their journeys to your location in advance, anywhere in the world, 24/7. A proven solution to increasing business, customer engagement and, as an NHS Digital approved aid to accessibility. Our tours are also compatible with Oculus™/ Meta™ VR headsets. Most people like to plan a journey in advance but for people with physical and hidden conditions the ability to remotely plan a journey to an unfamiliar or new location well in advance can be an absolute necessity (“where are the toilets?”… “is the ramp wide enough for my wheelchair?”… “Are the disabled changing facilities suitable for my son?”). A legal opinion by Internationally respected Human Rights and Employment barristers, Doughty Street Chambers in 2021 on the use of virtual tours as an anticipatory need or reasonable adjustment is available on request from us at inclusion@ocean3d.co.uk

This can vary depending on the level of detail required (the number of scan positions) however, if the location is ready for scanning when we arrive and does not involve restricted access points, we aim to scan up to 5,000M² per working day. For context, The Royal Institute of British Architects estimates the floor area of the average new three-bedroom home in the UK to be 88M² – Try our free estimation tool here
The largest single tour we have created to date was of the 26-acre UNESCO World Heritage Site at Wheal Martyn Clay Museum. This is probably the largest single tour in the world using this technology. Scanning out of doors requires dry weather.

We position our scanners and cameras in as many locations throughout your space as required to give the best immersive experience for your tour. Each scan position represents a location someone might wish to stand (or sit) in the physical location itself. We try to ensure that these ‘footsteps’ follow a logical pattern which is then stitched together; much like stop go animation film creation but in 3 dimensions. We then annotate your tour ready for publication to the world or, a secure password protected audience. Try our free estimation tool here
We are constantly adding new functions to our tours with current embeddable content including, static written information, multimedia (audio, video, 3D models etc.), Google maps, shopping-cart software, external URL links and location triggered events. Try our free estimation tool here
It’s a very common question we receive but, most people are pleasantly surprised when they receive their quotation. Dependent on location (we work Internationally) a typical tour that takes a day to scan, plus a further day or processing and annotation is the daily budgetary equivalent of just one and a half high-street-made Café Lattés in year one. On-going hosting, support and monthly Google analytics for a large tour (>99 scan positions) for month 13 onwards is probably less than a third of the price of a daily Blueberry Muffin from your favourite coffee shop.
