Ocean 3D has recently completed an updated, high-accuracy 3D virtual tour of Lumo’s electric train fleet, designed to help passengers familiarise themselves with the onboard environment before travelling.
What’s New in Lumo’s Virtual Train Tour?
The refreshed virtual tour reflects Lumo’s latest interior upgrades and builds on the original accessibility-focused tour first launched in 2023. It allows passengers to explore the layout of the train, seating, luggage areas and accessible facilities online, using any standard web browser, with no app download or specialist equipment required.
Why This Matters for Accessibility
The project supports passengers who benefit from advance familiarisation, including people with anxiety, autistic travellers, wheelchair users and others who value predictability when planning a journey. The tour is designed to complement, not replace, Lumo’s Passenger Assist service.
Independent rail industry coverage
The updated Lumo virtual tour has been covered by several independent rail and transport publications, highlighting its role in improving accessibility and reducing travel anxiety:

About the project
Ocean 3D worked closely with Lumo’s operational, accessibility and communications teams to rescan and update the virtual tour following onboard refurbishments and advances in web-based accessibility technology. The updated tour uses high-resolution 3D capture and WCAG-aligned delivery to ensure it is usable across a wide range of access needs.
