ABOUT

Ocean 3D™ embarked on its mission ‘to make the world a more accessible and inclusive place for one and all’ in 2018. It has rapidly grown to be recognised as the leading interactive 360° tour businesses in the UK specialising in accessibility. Notwithstanding this proud focus, many of Ocean 3Ds clients use their tours for a range of additional uses including highly engaging marketing, staff Induction training, facilities management and emergency planning/ training. Our standalone AR App is also certified for use with NHS Digital.

Interactive virtual tours have been demonstrated to produce a range of positive outcomes including helping reduce anxiety, in a significant number of subjects and studies*.

“Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year [1]. In England, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week” [2]. (Source – www.MIND.org.uk)

The lack of knowledge of what a new or unfamiliar space may hold, how to navigate it and locate key areas within that environment can be a highly stressful and upsetting experience. This also has significant commercial implications too as WeAre Purple.Org.uk sobering business analysis illustrates.

Knowledge dispels fear and Ocean 3Ds’  interactive tours allow that knowledge to be easily and freely gained in advance from within a familiar and safe environment. Our tours create and deliver:

  • An overall interactive ‘dolls-house’ map of a location which users can then zoom in or virtually walk around using their smartphones, tablets or desktops (no headsets required)

  • In-tour embedded videos can explain and demonstrate what users can expect at key touch points in the journey

  • URL links allow the ability to link to further information, for example: real time travel updates, product information and reservation bookings etc

  • For many people, the major anxiety of wondering where toilets or baby changing facilities are located can be eliminated by being able to locate these hours, days or months in advance of the trip

  • Ocean3D tours facilitate all of this knowledge via browser on almost any smartphone, tablet or desktop with 4G or Wi-Fi connection. No App to download

  • By reducing anxiety and increasing accessibility our tours can significantly increase footfall and business revenue

  • Add new revenue streams (accessible tourism and business travel)

  • Reduce stress for passengers and staff dealing with stressed passengers, improve efficiencies and customer experiences, reduce staff absenteeism

  • Offer further security, Health and Safety, HR, staff induction and training benefits.

With an international client base of respected businesses, charities and NGOs, Ocean 3D is also an approved supplier to the UK and European Space Agencies and has an approved App with NHS Digital.

Since winning New Civil Engineers Future of Airports competition in 2019, Ocean 3D and our interactive tours have gone on to be recognised and or, contracted by a number of major organisations including Tech4Good, TechFest, The Department of International Trade, various SEND centres of excellence colleges, Lumo trains and three UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Ocean3D was the first business in the world without a physical premises to be awarded the National Autistic Society ‘Autism Friendly’ award. Guest speakers at Naidex and working with/ for The National Autistic Society and WeArePurple.org, we are very much a pro-accessibility business with a passion for non-visible conditions/ injuries.

*In 2021, world renowned Human Rights and Employment Rights Barristers, Doughty Street Chambers (DSC) issued their opinion on the use of virtual tours as a reasonable/ anticipatory requirement under Equality Act law. As part of this process, DSC were supplied with publicly available peer reviewed papers in the field of VR. A full text of the legal opinion may be supplied for non-commercial use on request at the sole discretion of Ocean 3D Ltd.
